With the end of term coming close, many schools are getting ready for some Christmas and winter performances. Concerts are a wonderful way to bring families into the school and can be a fantastic opportunity to get them involved. There’s nothing like seeing the face of a parent when their child takes to the stage for the first time. Here are 5 plays written by Mash sellers that you might enjoy performing.

A Christmas Carol by Múinteoir Cliona

This Christmas play is based on the character of Ebenezer Scrooge, a grumpy old man who loves nothing more than making money. Throughout the story, he meets three Christmas Carollers who show him the meaning of Christmas. However, in order to become a better man he must follow each Christmas Caroller, into a different realm to change his devastating future. In each scene, Scrooge is confronted by real life issues witnessed in Irish life, a family made homeless, a family member in hospital and a young man who cannot get a job. At the end of the play, Scrooge redeems himself and aids all those in need. He provides gifts of love, kindness and generosity to all those he comes in contact with and saves Christmas for all. This play has 37 speaking parts (which could be extended to 50). This play is suited for children from 2nd to 6th class. https://mash.ie/a-christmas-carol-christmas-play.html
