The end of term is always a bittersweet time for primary school teachers. You’re saying goodbye to some of your beloved students who are leaving to start secondary school and some of your colleagues who are moving on or retiring. But it’s also a time to celebrate the hard work of both the students and teachers throughout the year and to look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead! 🥳🤩

To make this end of term special, why not give your pupils a few meaningful activities to reflect on their primary school experience and help them transition to secondary school? Here are five ideas for activities that you can do with your class:

1. Design a poster – Ask each student to create a poster that captures the highlights of their primary school experience. This could include memorable moments, significant achievements and special people they’ve met along the way.

2. Create a timeline – Have each student create a timeline of their primary school experience, from starting school to leaving for secondary school. This is a great way to reflect on all the amazing things they’ve accomplished in the last few years.

3. Write a letter to yourself – Ask each student to write a letter to their future self, looking back on their primary school experience and reflecting on how far they’ve come.

4. Write a goodbye letter – Ask each student to write a goodbye letter to their classmates and teachers. This is a great way to express gratitude and appreciation for the time they’ve had together.

5. Get creative – Give each student the chance to express their creativity by creating a piece of art that reflects their primary school experience. This could be a collage, a sculpture, a painting, or anything else they can think of!

These activities will be a great way to help your students remember their primary school experience and transition into their new phase with confidence and enthusiasm. For more ideas and resources, be sure to check out Mash.ie! 💻
