Happy World Refugee Week! 🎉 This is a great time to teach your primary school class about the plight of refugees and how we can help. Here are 5 activities to help you get started:
1. Read a story together – Reading a story about a refugee’s experience is a great way to bring the issue to life for your students. You can find stories on Mash.ie or through other online sources.
2. Have a discussion – Talk to your students about what it would be like to leave everything behind and start a new life somewhere else. Ask them to consider how they would feel in such a situation.
3. Put together a presentation – Have your students research the issue of refugees and create a presentation to share with the class.
4. Watch a film – Watching a film about refugees is a great way to help your students understand the issue and spark meaningful conversations.
5. Create a donation box – Ask your students to bring in items to donate to refugees in need. This is a great way to teach them the importance of giving back and helping those who are less fortunate.
These are just a few ideas to get you started. You can find more resources and ideas on Mash.ie. Let’s use this time to educate ourselves and our students about the struggles of refugees and how we can make a positive difference in their lives. 🤗
