No matter how many times a day you check your email lately, there is someone asking you to opt in to their service because of GDPR. For every website manager, we’ll be glad never to see those 4 letters again once the 25th May passes. Mash.ie is no different and we’ve spent most of the last while making sure that we are GDPR compliant. We have made a privacy policy that outlines exactly what happens when you use Mash.ie and we have asked all of our 12,000 or so members whether they would like to opt in to our newsletter. In fact, here’s a good opportunity to do just that!

Mash.ie

Your e-mail address is only used to send you our newsletter and information about the activities of Mash.ie. You can always use the unsubscribe link included in the newsletter. We never sell your information to third parties.

The reason we have to ask users to opt in to our newsletter is because when Mash.ie opened first, we didn’t have one. That meant that people who signed up to Mash.ie didn’t do so with the intention of receiving correspondence through email. Everyone that signed up to Mash.ie did so in order to either buy or sell teacher resources. This means that we have to get everyone to opt in to our newsletter but we don’t have to ask people to sign up to buying or selling products on the site, if that makes sense.

What does it mean for sellers? You’ll be glad to know, it means nothing, if you are simply using Mash.ie to sell products. We host all the data from your store. If you use the data on your store for any other purpose, e.g. storing the email addresses after any sale for a mailing list, you will need to update your privacy policy on the service you are using this for.
