Wouldn’t it be interesting to create a unique song for your school? Many schools have already created their own anthem that they can sing at school assemblies and concerts. Here are some ideas for you to get started!
1. Have students brainstorm and discuss what they think makes their school special. Then have them use their ideas to create a school anthem.
2. Play some school anthems for your class and have students discuss what they like/dislike about them.
3. Go through the elements that make up a song – verses, choruses and perhaps a bridge!
4. If you have very musical students, perhaps they could create their own music for the school anthem. However, you might want to being a musical person into the school to help with this!
5. Bring it all together and record your school’s composition!
6. Launch the song at an event, such as a concert or maybe release it on CD or as a digital download!
